RIP Patches

Thursday night/Friday morning our dog Patches took her last breathe. I was able to lay next to her and pet her head until she went to doggie heaven. This picture was taken that afternoon.

I can't begin to write how much she will be missed. Patches was already apart of Tom's family long before I came around and at first she wasn't a fan of me, I could never get her to go outside, she was always Tom's dog, she really loved him. Once she got comfortable with me she became one of my buddies as well, I was the one who remembered to feed her and give her water and let her outside to do her thing. Not that anyone else didn't, its just you know how mom's are, always thinking about everyone else but themselves.

Thursday night when we got home from dinner we let Patches outside, she's was in her kennel, and she just wasn't the same she could hardly walk and would try and get away from everyone. She wouldn't eat or drink and when Tom got up that afternoon Patches puked and peed a few times in the house. We're not sure what caused all this but she's been going down hill, she lost her hearing about 6 months ago and from there on we kept talking about taking her to put her down but we just couldn't get ourselves to do it. She was still herself but just couldn't hear. So Thursday night was the night, Tom left for work and I was texting Steph telling her about Patches. She was breathing really hard and at one point puked again. I cleaned it up then after that I laid a towel under her head just in case. But about an hour later her breathing because really shallow and I went to lay by her and called Tom, he was working, to tell her that Patches is not going to make it. I was talking to him and telling Patches it's OK to go to doggie heaven and he did, he took his last breathe. Tom and I were balling!

I left Patches where she was so the kids could say goodbye to her in the morning and Tom got home from work and we buried her in the back yard up by our garden. It was one of the hardest things we had to do, but she's not suffering anymore and she's in a better place looking over us.

She lived a great life and will be missed. It will be quiet around her for a while! Patches was about 12 or 13 years old, Micayla got her for her 6th birthday and today she turned 19!

We love you Patches!
