Memorial Day Weekend

We spent this holiday weekend camping! It was a beautiful weekend, a little rain Friday night but that was it, the rest of the weekend was gorgeous. Andy and Bill, Gary and Erica and kids were all camping as well, it's always nice to have family there. Gordon and Lorlie came Saturday and spent the night but went home Sunday. Lorlie was pretty uncomfortable being 39 weeks pregnant and all. But she's a trooper!

Friday night, I got to hang out with the girls, Tom took Cooper in with him and they hung out together for the night, Tom was tired since he was up all day from work, so he and Cooper went to bed and Micayla and I hung out with the girls, we ended up at the bar where a band was playing. Whitetail Bluff usually has some entertainment on the holiday weekends, this night was Ruby Blonde, it's the owners son's band, they were pretty good, below is Kelly, the one with her arm in the air, she was helping sing one of the songs, she's had a few drinks! LOL

It was great to get out for a while and enjoy a few drinks, I still felt guilty about drinking more than 2 but after talking to Steph, it was all OK. I only had about 5 or so and it was throughout the night. We had a great time and got into the camper about 1:30, Cooper woke up about 3:30 or so.

The next day, Cooper must have been hung over from my drinks. LOL just kidding, when I saw this picture I had to say that! We got him some sun glasses and tried them on with his Mickey Mouse outfit that our friend Michelle got him. It was a little chilly but we kept him covered up.

Saturday, Tom and I played in a bean bag tournament, it was fun. I won all but 3 games but didn't win anything, their were some good throwers. That night we had some visitors, Tom's Aunt Shari and Uncle Bob and about 10 minutes later, Tom and Linda stopped. We weren't expecting anyone but it was great to see them. Tom was napping, he had a few too many at the bean bag tourney. But finally woke up and joined us.

We got Cooper all ready for bed about 8:30 and he had a great night.

Sunday was a hot one! We all slept in till about 9:00. Lounged around until about 10:00, made breakfast then decided to get ready to hit the pool. We got Cooper all lathered up with sunblock and put on his swimming gear we were headed to the pool!

One our way up to the pool Cooper fell asleep so we let him sleep. Tom and I checked out the pool, it was chilly, I wasn't sure how much Cooper would like it but we thought what the heck we might as well try it. First Taylor got to feed Cooper. I brought a bottle just in case and I'm glad I did.

We finally figured out this contraption of a life jacket. Thank God I had Erica there because if I had to do this myself I don't know that we would have made it in the pool. It looks like it's chocking him but it wasn't, it was actually comfy for him, I think. At least I knew he was safe just in case!

And here we are, Micayla took this with her phone. You can hardly see Cooper's face but it's under the hat! He was chewing hard on that binky and there was no way he was giving that up. LOL Look at how tight he was squeezing his hands/fingers. He wasn't sure what was going on but he wasn't crying, so I take it he was enjoying it once that initial chill went away. We'll keep at it!

And Monday we got home and Cooper slept for a good 2 hours! He was pooped from camping!

Neighborhood buddies

One day these 2 boys are going to be best buddies! Here is Danny our neighbor, we caught up with them this afternoon so we got the strollers out and away we went. As you can see Cooper fell asleep but I know he was dreaming of the two of them creek stomping down by Catfish Creek and getting all muddy and playing football and basketball. They are going to have so much fun when they get older.

And here is Danny's sister, Sophie, she loves her brother and can't wait for Cooper to get bigger too.

And Cooper had a HUGE blowout at Great Grandma's today, he already had one poop and not long after that one, Grandma was holding him and I noticed something coming out of his pants/onesie and sure enough another blowout! Grandma Pat was there so she was all over it. LOL Tom snapped a picture, nice huh??
The diaper is not even full, everything went up Cooper's back. The reason being probably is because the diaper is a NB diaper, I had 3 NB diapers left and we had to change him right when we got to Grandma's then he had this blowout, I'm blaming it on the small diaper. I have one left and I'm using it first thing tomorrow morning! And the only backup clothes I had was NB and he's outgrown that as well, but thank God I did have one 0-3 white onesie stuffed in there as well. So needless to say tonight I cleaned out his diaper bag and got it all ready for the next big blowout!

Camping weekend

It was another beautiful weekend of camping, the weather was perfect and we got to enjoy the pool! Well, some of us did.

Tom and I went up after Cooper's doctor's appointment Friday, we could not have asked for a nicer weekend. Micayla and Brandon both came up that afternoon and each brought a friend. Micayla's friend Megan and Brandon's friend Tyler they all drove up together in Megan's car, she had to go back Saturday and was taking Brandon and Tyler with her because Brandon had to work that night, so it all worked out good. Micayla stayed with us. They all had a lot of fun, I think Micayla and Megan had the most, they were singing Karaoke at the neighbors. Tom and Cooper were in bed and the 3 of us went to the neighbors where they were playing the music.

Saturday morning we all got up and made pancakes and sausage for breakfast then we got ready for the day, we loaded up on the sunblock and hung outside.

Here Cooper is chillin in his car seat. Don't you just love the shirt??

Getting ready for the pool, he has no idea what's going on?? LOL

Micayla is trying to keep Cooper calm, sorry Cayla I chopped your face of.

We sat him down in the pool but it was a little chilly and he didn't know what was going on, so he just  cried. We'll try it again next week.

And here he's just exhausted, all that swimming is tiring. LOL We bought him a new life jacket so once he gets used to the water we'll try that... baby steps!

And of course, camping is not the same if we don't play bags. Here Micayla and Tom are playing.

Overall it was a great weekend, Micayla and I gave Cooper a bath Saturday night, I had sunblock all over him and his hair and I figured I better get it off and plus he'll sleep better and that he did, he had a great night!

Once we got him comfortable, remember we are in the sink and I sat him down on the drain in the sink, I totally forgot about it then we put the towel down in the water and he was fine, he just didn't really know what was going on. But I was glad we gave him a bath and it was pretty easy but we definitely needed 2 people since I didn't have anything to hold his head up. It will work until he gets bigger than we'll move to the tub!

2 Month Well Check

My sweet little boy had his 2 month shots on Friday. For one I can't believe it's been 2 months since this little guy came into our lives. He's been such a blessing every day and thank God for him all the time!

Weight: 11lbs 1.5 oz
Height: 23 inches long
50% percentile for his age

Our pediatrician, Dr. Adkins, she's amazing. She was very impressed at how well he's doing, Cooper also showed off his skills and showed her how good he can lift his head and look around. He's getting so big and he did so good getting his shots.

Poor little guy got woken up by a few needles in his little legs, he wasn't too happy. But he did better than I thought he would and better than mommy! I just hate seeing him hurting.

Here he is lying in his crib, his poor legs are all bandaged up but at this point he was still pretty calm, we headed up to Whitetail for the weekend, he was playing in there while we were getting stuff ready.

And once we got to Whitetail, he started getting crabby, this is what he did most of the afternoon.

We got up there around 2:00 or so and he was pretty cranky, not like him at all, so I did give in and gave him some medicine which really seemed to help, well, he slept ALOT! LOL He ended up crashing for the night at 7:30 and slept until about 2am to eat then back to sleep. Overall it went good. It was rougher on me, not so much the shots, but after knowing he was in pain that just kills me because we can only do so much. I'm just glad he slept and the next morning it was like nothing happened! He's just the perfect boy!

Tom even got in a doctor's visit while we up there for Cooper. He's been having some chest issues and has been coughing a lot but nothing seems to come up and his chest is always hurting. He's been up there off and on since Cooper's been born and he's been on antibiotics and steroids but nothing seemed to be working so she had him get a few chest x-rays. While he was doing that I fed Cooper before his shots, which worked out great, when he got back the x-rays should a little pneumonia so he's on another antibiotic, I sure hope this cures it this time!

Two Months Old

I can't believe my little guy is two months old! Actually tomorrow he will be but I decided to take pictures today because tomorrow morning we go for dreaded two month check up, which mean shots :( Momma is not looking forward to this. Tom thinks he going to do just fine but me, I think there will be tears, especially from me.

Cooper's second month:

  • As of this past Tuesday at our Breastfeeding group you weighed in at 10lbs 14oz, you're getting big and I can sure tell. You're filling out perfectly and love squeezing your little thighs.
  • You just started wearing size 1 diapers, the NB ones just were getting too small and most of the diaper cakes we got are size 1 so we have lots of size 1 to use, which I know we'll use them the way you poop and pee. We like Pampers but some of the diapers we got are Huggies but they'll work just fine.
  • You are finally out of your new born clothes, this makes me sad but I love that you're growing up and filling up so nicely. You are now in size 0 to 3 month and 3 month clothing, if that makes sense, but you don't mind getting dressed or anything and momma likes to dress you.
  • You still wake up crying which always breaks momma's heart, but at night I can hear you waking up so I try and get you before you actually wake up so I can feed you. But once you're up for the day and you're in momma's arms you're so happy. You love when I say "Good morning Sunshine" in my sweet mommy voice. I remember my momma saying that to me and I always loved it, well most of the time. LOL
  • You are still sleeping in our room in your bassinet, you seem to sleep really good as long as I swaddle you up good, if I have a bad swaddle your arms get loose and that seems to wake you up.
  • You don't have much of a schedule but we're working on it. We are trying to get you all ready for bed by 8:00 and our goal is to have you in bed around 8:30 maybe earlier once we start daycare. But you wake up usually sometime between 4:00 and 5:30am to eat, sometimes its earlier, but I will feed you and put you back in bed once you fall asleep, this is my time on catching up with Words With Friends while feeding you. You will wake up again about 2 hours later to eat and usually this is when daddy gets home, so he sees you in bed with me and thinks you've been there all night but that's not true. Usually the 2nd time you get up you do stay in bed with me and once you wake up it's usually after 8:00 or so.
  • You take pretty good naps but sometimes it seems you like to fight them, you'd rather be lifting your head or pushing up on your feet, you're getting so strong. But when you do nap it's usually around 10:00 in the morning and this is usually an hour sometime an hour and a half, I get a nap here too, this is still our cuddling time. Then you'll be alert and awake for a good couple of hours then we'll eat and you'll take another nap around noon, this is if we're home, we like to go out and about around this time but you'll nap in your car seat. Then we usually get one more good nap out of you around 3:00 or so. I just love holding you and putting you to sleep, it's so amazing just watching you and wondering what you're thinking about.
  • You are still breastfeed exclusively and momma is so happy about this. When you do take a bottle you drink it right down so there is no confusion on how to get your food. There has only been a handleful of people that has fed you and this is what they say every time "wow he was hungry" yes you seem to be hungry all the time.
  • Bath time is getting much better. We've been giving you a bath every other day which seems to work. Sometimes you don't know what's going on you just give me this look like "mom what are you doing" and "what is this water stuff you keep pouring over me?" I think he's really going to love the swimming pool this summer!
  • You finally don't mind getting your diaper changed, most of the time. The first one in the morning is my favorite because you look so happy to get that wet diaper off and you make funny faces and start smiling and cooing, it sure melts mommy's heart.
  • You love the car, as long as it's moving. If you're really hungry and/or tired then it's not so good but for the most part you just go with the flow and are always checking things out. You have a nice big sunroof in my car so I think this helps.
  • I finally got the Lullaby CD on my IPod and you seem to love it, we'll sit in your room and listen to it while you're eating, this is before bed time that is. The CD is beautiful and I think one day you'll grow up knowing all these songs. My favorite is The I L.O.V.E. Y.O.U. LULLABY song.
  • You are really starting to smile and coo, I love hearing you talk to me. Daddy and Micayla can really get you to smile, they do funny things with there tongues and it makes you smile.
  • Everyone who sees you just falls in love with you and they all just want to hold you and snuggle.
  • You like your pacifier but you don't fall asleep with it, except for naps. You seem to nap better when you have this in your mouth, it usually falls out then you'll wake up and I'll stick it back in and back to sleep you'll go. These things are a life saver that's all I can say!
  • In the mornings after I change you it never fails that I have to go to the bathroom so I'll put you in your crib and you'll play int here for a good 15 minutes, this give mommy time to get a few things done around the house like eat breakfast, otherwise I don't get a chance to eat. But you love your crib. I sure hope you like it when you start sleeping in there, but that will be a while yet, I'm not ready for you to move out (of our room). Especially since daddy works 3rd, this is our time and I want you right next to me!
Cooper all I can say is I LOVE YOU! I still sometimes have to pinch myself because it just sometimes doesn't seem real. You are my sweetheart and I love you so much, you bring such joy to this house and we all love watching you and playing with you.

Here are just a few more random pictures that I don't think I've posted on here yet, they were all taken this week.

Here Micayla is playing with him and trying to get him to laugh. He loves his big sister!

And just a few more from his 1st month of life!
