6 Month Well Visit

Cooper has his 6 month well visit yesterday with Dr. Adkins, she is awesome! I missed his appointment last week thinking it was last Wednesday when it actually was last Tuesday, oops! I just didn't want to put Cooper through shots yet. LOL

He had a rough day yesterday, I went to pick him up from daycare and he had a black eye! I guess he was sitting up and tumbled over and hit his eye on a toy, there was an incident report and everything. I don't think it bothered him one bit, he was still full of smiles, until his shots of course, but then momma fed him and he was all better.

Cooper's six month stats:
Weight - 16.5 pounds
Height - 26 1/4
He is in the 40th percentile - he dropped a little bit but the doctor did not seem concerned.

Here are few pictures of us in the waiting room. He loves the paper!

See his right eye, our left?

Look at those rolls. (and not mine please) LOL

Love the double chin!

Waiting for our shots :(

All clonked out, I took him to the mall so mommy could do a little shopping, I need some new work shoes and thankfully found some. Cooper napped while I shopped.

And this was a picture I took this morning, I tried getting a picture of his band-aids but he was not straightening his legs for me, so this is what I got. Poor little guy, his little weiner (ha) is hurting him. I've not been pushing the skin down enough and it's a little infected and is all red around it, he screams when I touch him. The doctor did it first yesterday and she didn't seem to concerned and just told me to keep pushing the skin down around it so it gets some air. I put some vaseline on it, hoping to help it. Poor little guy, but after I put his diaper on he was happy again!

Weekend update!

Friday night, the girls in my department all go together at Catfish Charlie's for out monthly get together, we try and do this once a month, it's nice getting together outside of work. It wasn't a very nice day out, it was rainy and cold so we had to sit inside. We just ordered drinks and appetizers and it was all so yummy! It's a restaurant we never think of going to so next time Tom and I are thinking of a different place to eat we are going there!

As I was leaving Catfish Charlie's, I got a text from Jake, he asked if he could come over and hang out for a while so I went and picked him up at his mom's and he got to hang out with Cooper. He was made at me the other day because I went to pick a football up from him at his dad's house and I didn't have Cooper, he said he hasn't seen him at least a month, so I told him to call or text me anytime. Normally we would have been camping but since it was rainy we decided to go up Saturday morning instead. So Jake came over for a couple of hours. He got to help feed Cooper and put on his PJ's, he's a little squirmer and it was a challenge for Jake to.

Jake holding Cooper while Tom fed him.

Coop all ready for bed, he and Jake were having so much fun. Cooper slept ALL night!!!

Saturday we got and ready and headed up to Whitetail about 10:00 or so. We got up there and WOW was it cold! The windy was aweful. I think it was only 50 degrees or so. I don't think it was that cold in DBQ when we left. When the sun was out and the wind was calm it was beautiful but that didn't happen much, so we bundled Cooper up! As you can see below in the picture. I had a good excuse to wear his baby legs! I was waiting for the time I could put these on him and I read they could be used just as leg warmers, duh, what was I thinking. So he had his leg warmers on, fleece pants, with a onesie and a long sleeve shirt and a vest that came with that outfit, then on top of that, his "new" polar bear suit from the gap. It was perfect and I'm so glad I picked it up. I bought it off of the DBQ area garage sales on FB, it's a great site with lots of kids/baby stuff. I got it for $10! I think on the Gap website it goes for over $50, so I got a deal.  I didn't get him with full shot but he was nice and cozy. He was keeping me warm!

See how windy it is??? Nice hair huh??

Cooper trying to keep daddy warm, but didn't want much to do with him. Look at Cooper's hands??? LOL we put on a pair of adult mittens, that's the only thing we don't have and this bear suit did not have any, like the feet are little paws, so we improvised thanks to Tara who had extra. I even had to borrow a pair.

After we ate supper, they had free food for all of us campers this weekend, that's the reason we went up, or we might have stayed home. But the owner fishes and at the end of the year he had a huge fish fry and it's so so good! We went up to eat about 5:30 or so and got back to our camper around 7:00 and we decided its just too cold to stay outside with Cooper, plus we leave for CA in a week and I don't want him sick, so we borrowed a movie, Footloose, and stayed in for the night. Tom and I were both OK with this and just relaxed.

But first we had to feed Cooper, he was hungry too. See his baby legs???

Sunday we got home around 11, Tom had to be home in time to watch the Bears! We got a text from Matt asking if he and Jake can come out to the house for a while, so we picked them up and they came out for a few hours. They came and played with Cooper and watched the Bears game with Tom. Then we got a call from mom who invited us up for steaks, yummy! So we all went up there and Jake and Jake and Matt's mom picked them up at Grandma's, they did not eat with us but I think they would have loved to. Great Grandma came up though and she was loving on Cooper!

Mom got to feed Cooper for the first time, he loved it as well as the lid he's chewing on.

After dinner, Coop was getting tired so we gave him a bath at Grandma and Grandpa's, put him in his jammies because he always falls asleep on the way home. Which he did but didn't sleep much once we got home.

Grandma and Grandpa playing with my naked baby! He was showing off for them.

It was a great weekend, next weekend is Halloween up at Whitetail, we'll be up for that then off to California we go!

Yum Yum! First "real" feeding

Tonight we decided to start Cooper on some real food. I wanted to wait until I talked to the doctor about what and how to start and since I missed our appointment on Tuesday, I (Cooper) couldn't wait any longer. He would watch us eat and look at us like "hey, what about me"? So I said tonight's the night.

I texted Steph to ask what she thought, rice cereal or just go for the sweet potatoes, she suggested the rice cereal just to make sure there is nothing that he's allergic to, so I did. I mixed it will some breastmilk and he WENT TO TOWN! He loved it. Daddy fed him and he enjoyed it as much as Cooper did, he wouldn't try the cereal, but he's been waiting for this day, to feed Cooper. He thought the cereal was too runny but I think it was just fine.

So here are a few, I mean a lot, of pictures. They are all just so darn cute, he loved it!

First bite, I don't think he knew what was going on.

He kept trying to grab the spoon.

Open wide! Daddy is holding down his arm.

Yummmmmmmy!

OK, I think I'm getting full!

Here's the airplane coming in for a landing. LOL

Cheese Daddy....

Oops, forgot to smile in the last phone, cheese...with my tongue sticking out.

 All done! That was yummy!!

It was a very successfully dinner. Afterwards, I breastfed him and he was good to go. I didn't get a lot of crazy faces, he really enjoyed it and and I'm sure he's dreaming about it right now. I just hope he likes everything else we try and give him one day. Heck, he's a Hillebrand, I'm sure he'll love it all!

6 Months Old!

Holy Cow, who would have thought I'd have a 6 month old??? I still can't believe it, I think I say that just about every month.

Cooper has been such a blessing to all of us, he's the most sweet, precious child that anyone could ask for. This month's pictures were by far the hardest, he does not like to sit still so some of the pictures are kind of blurry.

Here are a few things I want to remember about Cooper's 6th month of life:

  • We're not sure what you weigh yet, we missed your appointment yesterday thinking it was today. Mommy better start keeping better track of appointments! But I'm guessing around 16-17 pounds! You're getting heavy.
  • You are now fully into size 2 Pampers Swaddlers, they are my favorite. You do have a few size 1 left at the camper that we're trying to use up.
  • You are starting to outgrow your 6 to 9 month clothes already, I seem to have just bought you some clothes and they are already too small. You fit comfortably in your 9 month clothes.
  • We have yet to start you on baby food. Mommy is so unsure of this and doesn't know what to do. I know once we start you're going to love it! I"m hoping in the next couple of days.
  • You are exclusively breastfed yet. You love to eat! In the morning, when you wake up, is your favorite time. I will bring you into bed with me and before I can lay down by you, you're kicking and waving your hands and feet, almost like you are saying "FEED ME MOMMA"! It's so funny, then you go to town!
  • No teeth yet!
  • You are sleeping GREAT! I could not ask for a better sleeper. You go to bed around 8 to 830 after I feed you and usually sleep until 5:45. I've changed me schedule up a bit so I'm out of the shower and half way ready for work before you get up. You sometimes wake up in the middle of the night crying for your pacifier, I just put it back in your mouth and off to dream land you go.
  • You are eating every 3 hours at daycare and on Monday's and Thursday's I come up and feed you. It's the best part of my day!
  • I take you to daycare and daddy picks you up! You're usually tired after school so around 5:00 you take a nap. Daddy likes this because he says you always cry for him. I keep telling you that you need to behave for daddy! But he'll put you in your swing and you usually fall asleep. Sometimes he'll give you a bottle, just depends on when you had your last one at school.
  • No teeth yet! But you sure are a drooler... oops I think I already said that!
  • You love your big brother and sister, you just light up with a huge smile whenever they come into the room. You love playing with them and they sure spoil you.
  • You are sitting up all on your own, we have to sit you up but once you're in the sitting position you love it. You love to look around and see what's going on.
  • When you're on your belly, you don't just lay there, you are up on your hands and knees, soon you'll be walking! God help me!!!!
  • Changing your diaper and putting clothes on has become a real challenge! You don't just lie there for me, you're constantly looking around. I fear you falling off the changing table head first because you're twisting and turning all the time!
  • You like your baths, can't say you love them, but you like them. You get one usually every other day, you don't complain, but when I don't give you a wash cloth to suck on you sure do complain. Last night for the first time I had you sitting up in the bathtub, just for a minute to see how you'd do, you're still a little wobbly so we'll keep you in your bath sling for a while longer. I can't wait to get the bath toys out.
  • You love camping and the outdoors! Whenever you're crabby, usually for daddy, he'll take you outside and you calm right down. You love talking to the birdies with daddy.
  • You love it when mommy sings to you, we play your lullaby's at nighttime and I was singing the other night and you started singing right along with me, it sure melted my heart.
  • You love getting your picture taken, whenever you see my phone or the camera you start to smile. This worked out great for your 6 month pictures last night, you're such a ham!!!
  • You love riding in the car or truck, the only time you get angry is when you're hungry! You usually fall asleep if we go for a long drive. We're hoping you ride good on our way to Milwaukee, where we're flying out of, to visit your aunt and uncle and cousins in California. We can't wait to see them!
  • When you get upset (pissed off) you start making noises with your lips and blowing bubbles. You will arch your back and just make a super sad face. It's quite silly and makes momma laugh sometimes. I usually can get you to calm down but I know daddy doesn't like it when you do that.
  • You start to rub your eyes now, it's very obvious when you're tired. You rub your eyes and you have bags, just like your brother.
Cooper you are such a sweet boy and I love every minute with you. I just want to eat you up sometimes (actually ALL the time). I love to make you laugh and I love to see that smile every single day you definitely light up my life.

Here are a few from today, I couldn't pass up the opportunity to show off his new shirt.
