Week/weekend recap

We had a pretty uneventful weekend, but it was kind of nice considering we were busy the last couple of weekends.

Last week seemed to drag, I taught Jazzercise 4 days in a row, I subbed for another girl on Wednesday so I didn't get a break until Friday. Not that I'm complaining, it's great to get an extra class but 4 in a row is tough, my legs were certainly feeling it. Besides Jazzercise I was hoping to hear from the doctor about my ultrasound I had last weekend but I did not hear from them, I know I should have called but every time I thought about it, it was too late or I just didn't have time to do it, maybe tomorrow I'll call. Or I could just wait until I call to tell them I had a positive OV test, yes I'll be doing those this week, it's that time, that's another reason I think the weeks been so long, I always seem to be waiting! I was supposed to start taking them today but do you think I remembered, nope, not today, but I think I'll be OK because I usually don't ovulate on day 11, its usually day 13 or so. I have a sub all lined up for Jazzercise, I'm teaching tomorrow morning for sure and if I have a + test tomorrow and the Dr. wants me to do the IUI on Tuesday, then I'll teach Tuesday morning not Tuesday afternoon. And if I have a subbed for Thursday no matter what, so please all say a prayer I ovulate. This will be my last IUI, the next step IVF, I'm hoping 3rd times a charm!

Monday night me, Tom, Brandon, Micayla and her boyfriend, Doug, all went to Buffalo Wild Wings, this was the first time we've really got to talk to Doug, he seems like a very nice guy, we are just so scared, he lives in Davenport so between Micayla driving down and Doug driving up, they have a lot of traveling to do, we just want her to be careful. They bought a new dog this week, I guess it's living with Doug and his family, I think this relationship is getting pretty serious. Now I know what I put my mother through, sorry Mom!

Wednesday night I got to thinking, I haven't even talked to dad since Mom left for California, so I called and asked him to come up for supper tomorrow night, we were going to grill out steaks. He was excited we asked him and I feel so bad that I forgot he was alone. Although I'm sure he was enjoying the peace and quiet, sorry again mom. LOL So come Thursday, I was talking to Kristi on the computer at work and I asked if her and Chris wanted to come over so they joined us, it was a good night and the food was great. Kristi brought a Bishops chocolate silk pie and it was too die for.

Wednesday I started Weight Watcher's, I need to get serious about this and watch what I eat and to exercise more. I'm really hoping Tom follows it along with me, I know he hates paying money for programs like that but we both need to get serious. My goal is 20 pounds by vacation time and that's 3 months away, holy cow, it will be here before we know it. But of course, if I become pregnant, all the better, but I'll be happy to gain 20 pounds.

Friday was the fish fry at the Moose lodge, as always it was delicious, as were the bloody Mary's I had, I know I've said this before but they are so good! We went and did a little grocery shopping afterwards then home to relax. Saturday was cleaning day, we got a lot done and I was so glad to get it done. They only thing I didn't get done was scrubbing the floors, but with the weather warming up and the dog getting her paws dirty I didn't bother, because it's just going to get dirty again. I just wish all the dog poop was picked up, holy cow there's a lot of it! I put up our Easter/Spring decorations and it feels so good knowing its here, we're still waiting for the warm weather but I know it's right around the corner.

Today we went to Grandma's for pizza, her and mom got back today from California.

Tom's getting ready for work and it's about time for me to hit the sack, I have to be up early! Wish me luck this week and keeps the prayers coming!

Run, Run, Run

Well, that sums it up, we ran all weekend! Not really but it sure seems we were all over.

First of all Friday after work I subbed for my friend Linda at Jazzercise, she does an express class on Friday's and it's always a fun class. The class is only 30 minutes, right when you think you're just getting started you're done! After Jazzercise I met Tom at his Grandparents, we were headed to Lacoma, not to golf, but for the awesome fish fry. They have one of the best fish fries around, next week there's a fish fry at the Moose, so we'll be heading up for that. Tom's mom and I had the baked fish and it was delicious, we're trying to eat a little more healthier. I started the special K diet last Monday and I was doing pretty good, I didn't lose any weight, but I can tell I'm not eating as much and think that's the point, to eat smaller portions. Micayla started it with me too, I'm not sure how she been doing lately, all I know is she was starving, so was I, but we made it one week and now we have one more. We can do it!

Saturday started with a trip to Davenport, I started my period early, again, I'm not sure what's going on with that, but as long as I'm into March, I'm good to go, so on day 3 of my cycle, the doctor wanted to do an ultrasound, they wanted to look at my uterus and ovaries, it was very interesting to say the least. My appt. was at 9:30 so Tom and I left here about 8:15 and got there with plenty of time to spare. I walked into the office and it seemed like no one was there, we waited for about 5 minutes and all I kept thinking was "is this the place I'm supposed to be at?" I didn't remember the nurse telling me any different so we waited. Finally the technician came out and said they are pretty behind because of some computer problems, no biggie, we were occupied with scrabble, thank God. Although I could have used an extra hour of sleep, but not that big of a deal. So about 10:30 we were called back and away she went. They inserted a scope up to look at the uterus lining and to check each ovary. They were really looking for any cysts or abnormalities. The technician was super nice, she was new to the practice and talked me through everything. It was kind of funny because as she's hold the scope her one computer screen went blank and all I was thinking was "how in the heck is she going to be able to sign back in while holding the scope" LOL I almost asked if she wanted Tom to help. So as she was looking around, she said everything looked good. I had plenty of follicles on my ovaries, I guess the follicles house the eggs when they become fertilized. My left ovary didn't want to come out but she found it. Oh and my uterus lining was good, she said everything was great and that she didn't see anything that would prevent me from conceiving. That was awesome news, now we just have to wait for Dr. Figge to look at the scans. I also gave them my CD of my fallopian tubes, so I'm looking forward to a call the next couple of days.

So after all that, they wanted me to start another dose of clomid, my blood work came back the other day and I definitely did not ovulate. The next step is to do one more IUI this cycle and that should be sometime around the end of them month. I have to do a couple more blood test once I'm done with my Clomid cycle but other than that, everything can be done in DBQ! So more on that when the time comes.

Speaking of getting pregnant and all that, tonight I caught up on one of my new favorite shows, One Born Every Minute, OMG this show is amazing. I think I cried 3 times just watching one show and I watched 3 of them, but wow, all I can say is when that baby comes out I bet it's the best feeling in the world and that's one thing that I can't wait to be a part of.

After the doctors office, Tom and I were starving, we wanted something different and something we don't have at home. We drove to Moline first and went to the John Deere store, I got a new T-shirt and Tom got a couple of shirts, he gets a discount and wow, they have a ton of stuff, especially kids stuff, holy cow. We bought Leah a JD t-shirt for Christmas and I thought that was cute but you should have seen some of these shirts, they were adorable. I can't wait to spoil my new niece or nephew and my own! We couldn't find anything to eat in Moline so we drove back to Davenport and ate at Chili's, it was very good. We walked through Gordman's then headed home, it was about 3:00 at this time and mom called us to invite us up for steaks and I don't think we'd ever turn down steaks. I bought a couple Eastery things for the yard and an outdoor cushion for my bench in the front of the house. I didn't know for sure if it was going to fit but it fit perfectly! I would have liked to sit outside last night and watch the moon, but we had to get up super early Sunday morning.

Once we got back to DBQ we stopped at Tom's parents to help fix there dishwasher and once that was done his dad was heading up to the Moose for a drink so Tom and I decided to go and have one too. I had a bloody mary and it was so good! We got up to mom and dad's around 6:00 just in time to eat. Grandma was up for supper too. I got there boarding passes all printed out, this was the reason we got invited up for supper. There's always a reason, but we don't mind! LOL

Mom and Grandma's flight was at 7:15 out of Madison, we were on the road at 4:30, it was lightly raining but it was a good drive, not a lot of traffic. We got them all settled and on there way. Tom and I ate a Denny's for breakfast then went to see if any stores were open, unfortunately nothing was open. I guess we saved some money that way, so we headed back home. We got home about 10:15 or so and the rest of the day was super lazy. I did laundry and caught up on my shows. I wanted to take a little nap but I just didn't fall asleep, I was busy playing scrabble too.

The week ahead doesn't look too exciting, I think the weather is finally starting to turn so Tom and I are going to get out and do some walking.

Recent Happenings

Wow, it seems like forever since I've blogged and I apologize. I have been addicted to a new game on my cell phone called Words with Friends, it's just like scrabble and it's addicting. Its been taking up a lot of my time so I haven't had a chance to blog.

So, what's been happening in my life lately, well, not really a lot, however we did just get home from a weekend in Davenport with family and friends, I wish I had some more pictures to share but I don't. I only have one of mom and her friend Cheryl's son. His name is Jack or John, I don't even remember. I think we were all 3 sheets to the wind when I took this picture and I don't even remember why I took it.

I took off early from work Friday to get to Davenport a little early, Tom and I had to go make a "deposit" at the lab. It was quite comical and I don't know if I should blog about it, but here it goes, sorry honey! So the day before we left I called to the lab to ask a few questions, my biggest question was how long do we have once the "sample" has been released? LOL She said 20 minutes and I was like "well, I'm coming in from Dubuque and we're staying the weekend in Davenport, however I don't think our room will be ready, so we would need a place to make this deposit" she said "oh we have rooms here that he can use" OK, so that would work right, well we get into the lab, once we found where we were going thanks to the GPS because I was in the wrong area, we had to go to the hospital. The whole reason we had to do this in Dport is because the doctor wanted the analysis done a certain way and the lab here in DBQ does not do it that way so it had to be done in Dport. So we get to the lab and lady at the front desk asked for our sample, so I had to explain that we don't have it yet because we came from DBQ and that someone said we could use a room here. So she's like "well we don't have any rooms, but you can just use the bathroom outside in the hall" WHAT??? So off we went into the bathroom, thank God it wasn't one of those stalls where there are multiple toilets. Tom's was like "I could've done this out in my car"! Anyway, off we went into the bathroom, I don't think you need anymore information on that. So we dropped the sample off with the front desk and off we went!We stopped at Sonic before we headed to the hotel, it was SO good. The last time I had Sonic was in TX with Stephanie.

Saturday, me Tom, Chis and Kristi all went to Jumer's casino in Rock Island, it;s a smoke-free casino and wow was it awesome! I know the casino's here in IA are trying to get that passed too but they haven't had any luck, but it was sure nice not leaving there smelling like smoke. And I really don't think it was keep people away because there was lots of people in there. Unfortunately we were not winners but we had fun. Chris and I play a little blackjack together and Tom was off playing slots. He found a fun one to play called "Press Your Luck" remember that game show - no whammies, no whammies. I didn't remember until they said that but he had fun.

Oh, I forgot to mention that Saturday afternoon, the nurse called about the "deposit" we made and said everything looks fine and does not seem to think we would have any problems getting pregnant with an IUI so once the time comes that's what we'll be doing. This will be the 3rd time and if that doesn't work then we'll see what's next.

Sunday we left the casino fairly early, we got up for breakfast, then packed up and headed out. We were home around noon, it was a long weekend with lots of beer plus the hour time change we were exhausted. Tom got home and went straight to bed and I did a little cleaning and rested on the couch all afternoon.

Monday here at work was a big day for us, we moved to the 1st floor and I got a window seat. I love it. We're facing the opposite side of the building than we were up on the 2nd floor so now we get the sun in the mornings instead of the afternoon. Here's what I see when I look out my window.

I can't wait to start to see the trees blooming and this morning, I see smalls little flower buds, if I remember correctly they're tulips. I can't wait to see them, they are so beautiful. The only thing I'm battling right now, and I'm not complaining, is the sun, wow is it bright and we have such big windows as you can see from the pictures but it feels so good. Their are window shades but they don't seem to help too much. At first I had my computer on the opposite side so the sun was hitting my back but it was so bright I couldn't see my computer screens so I moved to the opposite corner so I can just glance up and see outside! I like it here much better especially in the afternoons. So on Monday, our first day down here, I wasn't used to the sun and I was asking if anyone had a "visor" joking however a girl I work with brought me over her "foam crown" she had at her desk, it worked wonders, however I looked pretty ridiculous and she just popped over and surprised me as she's taking a picture and posted it to everyone in our dept. As you can see it's pretty bright.
And to get a better picture of this crown, here's another girl wearing it yesterday because she's having a "bad hair day" and Cyndi, the crown's owner, thought wow this crown is getting lots of use.

Nice huh??

New Duvet Cover

So I broke down and bought a new Duvet cover for my bed along with a couple shams and a bolster pillow cover, I've always wanted one for my bed for decoration and I finally got one. The only thing I didn't realize was it was very hard to find a bolster pillow without the cover, we looked all over today for one. Tom came up with a brilliant idea, we bought a cheap pillow, rolled it and stuffed it into the pillow cover. It's not the same size but it does the trick. Here are a few pictures.

I also bought some white pillowcases for our king size pillows since they were in the shams of our old comforter. The edge around the new shams are white so I thought they would look good. Now the question is, What color to paint the walls? I have no idea because there are 5 walls in my bedroom so I'll have to think about it. I'm also thinking of getting some plantation blinds for the bedroom, but they will come with time, one that at a time.

I'm coming down with a cold and I'm not feeling the best but wanted to do a little blogging. Tom made some home made chicken noodle soup today so we decided to have our parents up for dinner, it's been a while since we've all got together and we had plenty of soup. It was delicious, we also made a couple panini's with ham and cheese and they went perfect with the soup. Mom brought some chicken puffs for an appetizer. They all left about 8:30 so now we're just relaxing. I'll be in bed early tonight!

State Bowling Tournament

Friday I took the day off to go watch Micayla bowl in the state tournament. She did AWESOME, there team finish 3rd in the state. Way to go Micayla!

The one thing that really sucked was we had to stand the whole time! First of all, we left DBQ about 7:30. Tom picked up his mom and dad on his way home from work and then headed out shortly after they got here, we drove my car, it was about a 3 1/2 hour drive to Des Moines. We stopped at a Subway for breakfast on our way down, we settled for Subway because we couldn't find anything else and it was getting kind of late so if we wanted to breakfast we had to stop soon. Subway breakfast was OK, it's not a favorite for breakfast but it was good. I had a double bacon and egg with cheese on a flatbread. Pretty plain but it did the job. We got to the bowling alley about 11:30 and from what we remembered last year we had to wait in line because they wouldn't let anyone in until noon. So there we were waiting in line and it was cold, but not as cold as last year. We stood outside for at least 45 minutes if not longer. I forgot my camera so I don't have any pictures to share but we were not far from the door and Micayla was on lane 5 so she said to go to the back door and wait in line. So since we got in line fairly early we thought we'd get a good seat. Well, that wasn't the case, I think everyone who was ahead of us we going for the same seats because it was standing room only! So we've been standing in line for about an hour and now we were inside the bowling alley an hour before they started bowling and we had to stand. It was the pits, but once they finally started bowling about 1:00 all the excitement of the girls and guys bowling the time went pretty fast. Someone was saying they had 2 more rows of seats but the fire marshall came through and said it was a fire hazard and made them take out 2 rows of chairs. If they were their we would have definitely had a place to sit. Oh well.

So Micayla bowled a 192 and a 184, I think, I know it was around there but she bowled a few of her best games. They ended up in 3rd place and the team they were bowling against, or in the same lanes, were from Muscatine and they got 1st place. It was a good challenge for them and wow could they bowl. The Senior boys also got 3rd place. Everyone did awesome.

Once bowling was done we headed to the hotel we were staying at, The Drury Inn, beautiful hotel! They give each adult 3 free drinks and they have appetizers in the dinning area. Friday nights they have chili dogs, baked potatoes, salad, chip and salsa and popcorn. I had a salad since I'm not a big chili dog eater and a couple of bloody mary's and one Margarita. Yummy! Tom and Brandon went swimming and I sat in the pool area and watched them. This is the hotel that has an indoor/outdoor pool and from the indoor side you can swim underneath the wall to get to the outside. It was so cool, because it was snowing outside and they were swimming. Crazy huh? Once we got up to the room we snacked on some Uncle Dan's dip and watched TV. Tom crashed since he hadn't slept all day because he had to work Thursday night/Friday day and we left right when he got home and of course, he couldn't sleep so he was out about 8:30! I wasn't too far behind.

The next morning we went down to the lobby for breakfast, again they had a free breakfast. Scrambled eggs, french toast, biscuits and gravy, waffles, cereal just to name a few. It was delicious. We packed up and went to do a little shopping. On our way to the Jordan Creek Mall, we saw a Trader Joe's so we had to stop. We picked up a few things, a Coffee Cake/crumb cake mix that I made this morning and it was delicious. We spent a couple hours in the mall. They had a pottery barn we went through, I was hoping they had the duvet cover I want but they didn't, I will have to order it online I guess. We went to a William-Sonoma, another store I love, I bought some hand/dish soap and lotion, a new scent, Fleaur de sol, it smells like the ocean! Tom bought a bacon press he's been wanting. LOL One other purchase I had was from Scheel's, a North Face Fleece, they had a sale on them and I found one for $50 so I had to buy it. They are normally over $100 so I thought what the heck, plus I got a bonus from work, so I deserved it. We left the mall around 1:30 and head home. We wanted to eat somewhere but we really weren't that hungry yet so we decided to get to Cedar Rapids and eat at Red Lobster, Lobsterfest! That's all I have to say, it was delicious! We got home about 6:30 or so and Mom and Dad called and said they were going to the Marroco to eat supper and said they might stop by, they got here about 8:30 and left about 9:30. It was a nice visit as always. We were in bed shortly after they left.

Today was a lazy day for us as all Sunday's seem to be that way but that's OK, we love it. Tom slept most of the day since he has to work tonight. I did a little cleaning, the bathrooms and some vacuuming, that's about it. I did make that coffee cake and for dinner I made a stuffed green pepper casserole, we've made this before and it's so good! I did a little Jazzercise since we got our new DVD so we have some new routines to learn. I watched a little of the Oscars, but I'm not too interested in the Oscars so I decided to blog and now I have to listen to my music I put in for tomorrow's Jazzercise class.

I'm getting a little scratchy throat so I'm hoping I'm not coming down with something. Tom's still coughing a lot and he's going back to the doctor tomorrow. Last night, he scared the crap out of me, he started coughing so hard he almost threw up and started choking. But he was alright, but scared me.

I can't believe tomorrow is the last day of February! Bring on March and some warmer weather!

Kokopelli

So I finally read the story behind Kokopelli Legends and I hung up my new wind chime from my In-laws. I love it. Here's the story..

Known as a fertility god, prankster, healer and story teller, Kokopelli has been a source of wonder throughout the country for centuries. Kokopelli embodies the true American Southwest, and dates back over 3,000 years ago, when the first petroglyphs were carved. Although his true origins are unknown, this traveling, flute-playing Casanova is a sacred figure to many Southwestern Native Americans. Carvings of this hunch-backed flute-playing figure have been found painted and carved into rock walls and boulders throughout the Southwest.
There are many myths of the famous Kokopelli. One of which is that he traveled from village to village bringing the changing of winter to spring; melting the snow and bringing about rain for a successful harvest. It is also said that the hunch on his back depicted the sacks of seeds and songs he carried. Legend also has it that the flute playing also symbolized the transition of winter to spring. Kokopelli’s flute is said to be heard in the spring’s breeze, while bringing warmth. It is also said that he was the source of human conception. Legend has it, everyone in the village would sing and dance throughout the night when they heard Kokopelli play his flute. The next morning, every maiden in the village would be with child.
Whatever the true meaning of Kokopelli is, he has been a source of music making and dancing, and spreading joy to those around him. Even today, Kokopelli, with his hunchback and flute, is always welcome in our homes.

"If Kokopelli has lured you with his magical flute, it is time to listen to his song.
This song is one of fertility. You are being asked to use your talents to
create fertility in some area of your life. If things have been slow moving,
Kokopelli's song is saying that whatever you intend to plant at this time will
be very productive for you.

Planting seeds for the future takes effort on your part, so now is the
time to use your skill and resources to make use of the magic.
If you have a project to begin or an idea to develop, the timing couldn't be better.
Shift away from any old, limiting ideas and move forward. The time is now - the power is you !"

Here's the website -  http://www.indigenouspeople.net/kokopelli.htm

I don't know how to link it so you will have to copy and paste, listen to the music, the flute, it's so awesome!

Here are a few other pictures of my wind chime, now let's see if it works!

I have it hung in our bedroom

Well, I'm off to do some more reading...

Birthday weekend

Well, I can't believe I'm 36! I had a great weekend with family and friends and it was extra special because I had a 3 day weekend, thanks to all the dead President's. Friday night after work I subbed for Linda, it was her express class and let me tell you, I loved it. It was only a 30 minute class but boy was I sweating, it was a great and quick workout. After I got home Tom and I just hung out at the house, he's got a dandy of a cold and is not feeling the best. I think I'm sending him to the doctor tomorrow because he's breathing and coughing really hard and it sounds like it hurts. He gets this about once a year, usually around this time of the year, and it's usually bronchitis so he'll need to get it taken care of, we have lots going on the next couple of weeks.

Saturday was super busy, it all started out with Jazzercise at 8:45, I went to Shelly's class since I had yoga at 10:00, boy do I love it. After yoga we had an instructor training class, we went over different moves and just talked about different songs to make sure we are all on the same page. We've been getting a lot of new people, so we like to be on top of our game and make sure we're doing everything right. Well, an hour turned into 2 hours, so I was wiped! After class my friend Linda took me out of lunch, we went to Salsa's, yummy..Tom was with his mom and dad in Waterloo watching Micayla bowl in the district meet for bowling. Her team got 1st, however she didn't bowl her best but they're going to state! Which means next weekend we'll be in Des Moines and I just remembered I'm supposed to teach Jazzercise next Saturday at 7:30 for Linda, since she taught for me this morning since I didn't have to work, she asked if I could teach for her, crap, I guess I will have to see if I can get a sub. So after lunch, I came home and took a shower and was thinking about just relaxing for night but Chris called and asked if we want to come over for dinner, since Tom wasn't back yet I decided to just get ready and go over, the 2 margaritas I had at lunch were tasting delicious so I figured what the heck, I'll go over and have a few beers and eat. They had steak and hashbrowns, it was delicious. All the kids were there and as always, it amazes me how they do it with 6 kids. Tom ended up meeting me at Chris and Kristi's and had a couple beers himself, however he didn't eat because him and Micayla went to Buffalo Wild Wings, she was hungry before she had to go to work. Once we got home Tom gave me the most beautiful birthday card and a milky way caramel, our favorite candy bar. His mom and dad gave me a wind chime with a theme behind it, it's supposed to help me get pregnant. I'm 100% of the story but Tom said something like Infertility Gods. I will have to get the scoop from his mom. I will have to take a picture of it, it's super neat, now I just have to find a place to hang it.

Sunday was a lazy day most of the day, Tom slept in because we were going up to mom and dad's for supper to celebrate my birthday. She made ham and scalloped potatoes. Chris, Kristi and the boys came up along with Grandma. It's always nice getting together and it seems like we haven't been together in a while. It wasn't a late night since Tom had to work that night so we got home about 8:00, he headed to work at 10:00 and I went to bed.

This morning, I woke up to a very unpleasant site - my period! I'M SEVEN FRICKIN' DAYS EARLY and I'm not too happy about it, this puts a damper on everything that I had planned out. Now since I'm having my period and its still February I can't proceed with any fertility stuff, like the ultrasound I was supposed to have on day 3, well that would be Wednesday and if my period waited like it was supposed to it would have worked out perfect, but I guess nothings perfect right? So I called my doctor and told them what was going on and they do not want me to take Clomid this cycle because they have to my ultrasound with out any medication, so I'm back to square one, kind of, I will have to do the whole ovulation predictor kits once its time and so on and so on, I'm getting tired just talking about it and I'm sure you can tell I'm pissed. I'm NEVER early or this early, maybe a day or two but not 7. Oh well, enough of that crap.

Mom and I met up this afternoon to go for lunch and do a little shopping. We ate at Buffalo Wild Wings with Chris and his boys, the wings were delicious. After that we headed to Michael's then to the mall. We hit JcPenney's and Younkers oh and Victorious Secrets. I got myself a new bra with my birthday money, thanks Grandma! I got home about 5:00 and Tom and I headed out for dinner with Tom and Linda, they took me out for my birthday, we were going to go for pizza at The Greenhouse but since the kids were not home we ended up at Salsa's again, I love their Mexican food.

Well, we're waiting for Micayla and Brandon to get home, they drove to Davenport to visit her boyfriend and with the slippery weather we are having they called and said they are going about 30 MPH. It's been raining for the last 2 days and tonight it's pretty cold, below freezing anyways, which isn't good considering its still raining and sleeting and even a little snow.

It's going to be a short week, I'm probably going to take Friday off to watch Micayla bowl, hopefully we'll get some good pictures and hopefully they do good.
