The week of July 9th I was asked to go to Columbus, OH for some training for McGraw-Hill. I was very skeptical at first because I didn't know if I could leave my little man behind. I know Tom would have taken very good care of him, but with me breastfeeding and all, I didn't want to risk my milk supply dwindling so I talked to my mom to see if she would like to ride along with me and Cooper. I first OK'd it with the company to make sure it was all legit. So off we went! We left on Monday the 9th about 10:00am. We only drove half way and stayed in Indianapolis for the night.
The morning we left. Cooper was so excited to be traveling!
First stop - McDonald's for lunch. Cooper was excited to get out and stretch.
Here is what Cooper got to look at the whole time!
We made it to Indianapolis, it was about a 6 hour trip.
Do you think we have enough "crap"? It's amazing traveling with an infant and all the stuff you have to bring.
He loved it when he could stretch out on the bed once we made it to the hotel.
That night we went into downtown Indy to eat at
The Weber Grill it was so so good! I ordered beef brisket and mom had shrimp. We also had muscle as an appetizer, not my favorite but mom loved it.
The next morning, Cooper is all ready to go, he's ready to hit the road.
This is a view outside the elevator on our way down to the lobby.
First stop on our way to Columbus - Sonic! We don't have one of these in DBQ so it was a treat.
Heading up to our room once we've checked into our hotel in Columbus, we were near the airport, which next time we'd stay somewhere else, but it all worked out. Again, notice all the shit! LOL
Once we were all settled we decided on a restaurant
Fisherman's Wharf it was again so good. I had Crab Legs and mom had steak and lobster. And we both tried Escargot, I have never heard of that before. It's snail! I must say it was better than muscle.
Here is our Escargot.
Cooper just hanging while we eat! He was such a good baby.
Later that night, Cooper got to play with Grandma and on his play mat, he just loves this thing.
The next morning, I had to go to work at this time! LOL Mom got to cuddle with Cooper while I went to work.
Mom enjoying her cup (or I should say several cups) of coffee. LOL
Training was on Wednesday and it was all day, I got back to the hotel around 4:00 or so. Mom and Cooper had a great day, I rode with another co-worker so her and Cooper had wheels just in case. Well, mom said she was all ready to take Cooper out and about, she wanted to go to Home Goods, there was one about 10 minutes away. She had him all buckled in and they drove around the parking lot of the hotel and she decided she just wasn't comfortable driving around with Cooper not knowing where she's going. We did have the GPS but she just wasn't comfortable so she unloaded Cooper and the carseat and went back inside. She was talking to someone in the lobby who drives the shuttle and they said they could take them to Home Goods. So mom loaded Cooper up, strapped him in, and off they went shopping. They had a blast! Of course mom found some good deals. I was jealous I didn't get to Home Goods.
That night we headed out and about to eat, we weren't sure where we were going to go but we heard this place called
Easton Town Center. It's a huge shopping center and it has a ton of outdoor restuarants. We ate at
The Brio. I had seafood fettuccine and I can't remember what mom had. But it was all yummy! We don't have any pictures because my phone died and mom's new IPod does not have a flash and it was dark, so we didn't get many pictures. The atmosphere was awesome and it was so much fun. This is where we should have stayed, mom and Cooper would have really had a blast because they could have walked to where ever the wanted to go.
The next day, since we found out in our training on Wednesday that we didn't have to be at the Thursday training we decided to get a tour of the McGraw-Hill distribution center. It's 9 football fields long! It's huge!!!
Here are a few pictures:
And when I got back to the room, mom had everything ready to go so start heading back home.
Our overnight stop was in Columbus. We stayed in that night and ordered pizza. It was a relaxing night.
Mom playing with her new IPod touch! Yes I'm driving and taking a pictures. I know!!!
Cooper getting his diaper changed at one of the stops.
On our way to Columbus we kept seeing these signs for
Warm Glow Outlet Store so on our way home we had to stop. It was a really neat store and it was good place to stop and stretch our legs.
We love the BJourn... Cooper fell asleep.
My little man all bundled in his car seat. He had fun playing with his toys, we kept him buried in him while he was awake. But he slept most of the time.
Overall it was a great trip, we made it home Friday afternoon and I'm thankful my mother was able to come along otherwise I sure would have missed my baby!
