State Bowling Tournament

Friday I took the day off to go watch Micayla bowl in the state tournament. She did AWESOME, there team finish 3rd in the state. Way to go Micayla!

The one thing that really sucked was we had to stand the whole time! First of all, we left DBQ about 7:30. Tom picked up his mom and dad on his way home from work and then headed out shortly after they got here, we drove my car, it was about a 3 1/2 hour drive to Des Moines. We stopped at a Subway for breakfast on our way down, we settled for Subway because we couldn't find anything else and it was getting kind of late so if we wanted to breakfast we had to stop soon. Subway breakfast was OK, it's not a favorite for breakfast but it was good. I had a double bacon and egg with cheese on a flatbread. Pretty plain but it did the job. We got to the bowling alley about 11:30 and from what we remembered last year we had to wait in line because they wouldn't let anyone in until noon. So there we were waiting in line and it was cold, but not as cold as last year. We stood outside for at least 45 minutes if not longer. I forgot my camera so I don't have any pictures to share but we were not far from the door and Micayla was on lane 5 so she said to go to the back door and wait in line. So since we got in line fairly early we thought we'd get a good seat. Well, that wasn't the case, I think everyone who was ahead of us we going for the same seats because it was standing room only! So we've been standing in line for about an hour and now we were inside the bowling alley an hour before they started bowling and we had to stand. It was the pits, but once they finally started bowling about 1:00 all the excitement of the girls and guys bowling the time went pretty fast. Someone was saying they had 2 more rows of seats but the fire marshall came through and said it was a fire hazard and made them take out 2 rows of chairs. If they were their we would have definitely had a place to sit. Oh well.

So Micayla bowled a 192 and a 184, I think, I know it was around there but she bowled a few of her best games. They ended up in 3rd place and the team they were bowling against, or in the same lanes, were from Muscatine and they got 1st place. It was a good challenge for them and wow could they bowl. The Senior boys also got 3rd place. Everyone did awesome.

Once bowling was done we headed to the hotel we were staying at, The Drury Inn, beautiful hotel! They give each adult 3 free drinks and they have appetizers in the dinning area. Friday nights they have chili dogs, baked potatoes, salad, chip and salsa and popcorn. I had a salad since I'm not a big chili dog eater and a couple of bloody mary's and one Margarita. Yummy! Tom and Brandon went swimming and I sat in the pool area and watched them. This is the hotel that has an indoor/outdoor pool and from the indoor side you can swim underneath the wall to get to the outside. It was so cool, because it was snowing outside and they were swimming. Crazy huh? Once we got up to the room we snacked on some Uncle Dan's dip and watched TV. Tom crashed since he hadn't slept all day because he had to work Thursday night/Friday day and we left right when he got home and of course, he couldn't sleep so he was out about 8:30! I wasn't too far behind.

The next morning we went down to the lobby for breakfast, again they had a free breakfast. Scrambled eggs, french toast, biscuits and gravy, waffles, cereal just to name a few. It was delicious. We packed up and went to do a little shopping. On our way to the Jordan Creek Mall, we saw a Trader Joe's so we had to stop. We picked up a few things, a Coffee Cake/crumb cake mix that I made this morning and it was delicious. We spent a couple hours in the mall. They had a pottery barn we went through, I was hoping they had the duvet cover I want but they didn't, I will have to order it online I guess. We went to a William-Sonoma, another store I love, I bought some hand/dish soap and lotion, a new scent, Fleaur de sol, it smells like the ocean! Tom bought a bacon press he's been wanting. LOL One other purchase I had was from Scheel's, a North Face Fleece, they had a sale on them and I found one for $50 so I had to buy it. They are normally over $100 so I thought what the heck, plus I got a bonus from work, so I deserved it. We left the mall around 1:30 and head home. We wanted to eat somewhere but we really weren't that hungry yet so we decided to get to Cedar Rapids and eat at Red Lobster, Lobsterfest! That's all I have to say, it was delicious! We got home about 6:30 or so and Mom and Dad called and said they were going to the Marroco to eat supper and said they might stop by, they got here about 8:30 and left about 9:30. It was a nice visit as always. We were in bed shortly after they left.

Today was a lazy day for us as all Sunday's seem to be that way but that's OK, we love it. Tom slept most of the day since he has to work tonight. I did a little cleaning, the bathrooms and some vacuuming, that's about it. I did make that coffee cake and for dinner I made a stuffed green pepper casserole, we've made this before and it's so good! I did a little Jazzercise since we got our new DVD so we have some new routines to learn. I watched a little of the Oscars, but I'm not too interested in the Oscars so I decided to blog and now I have to listen to my music I put in for tomorrow's Jazzercise class.

I'm getting a little scratchy throat so I'm hoping I'm not coming down with something. Tom's still coughing a lot and he's going back to the doctor tomorrow. Last night, he scared the crap out of me, he started coughing so hard he almost threw up and started choking. But he was alright, but scared me.

I can't believe tomorrow is the last day of February! Bring on March and some warmer weather!

Kokopelli

So I finally read the story behind Kokopelli Legends and I hung up my new wind chime from my In-laws. I love it. Here's the story..

Known as a fertility god, prankster, healer and story teller, Kokopelli has been a source of wonder throughout the country for centuries. Kokopelli embodies the true American Southwest, and dates back over 3,000 years ago, when the first petroglyphs were carved. Although his true origins are unknown, this traveling, flute-playing Casanova is a sacred figure to many Southwestern Native Americans. Carvings of this hunch-backed flute-playing figure have been found painted and carved into rock walls and boulders throughout the Southwest.
There are many myths of the famous Kokopelli. One of which is that he traveled from village to village bringing the changing of winter to spring; melting the snow and bringing about rain for a successful harvest. It is also said that the hunch on his back depicted the sacks of seeds and songs he carried. Legend also has it that the flute playing also symbolized the transition of winter to spring. Kokopelli’s flute is said to be heard in the spring’s breeze, while bringing warmth. It is also said that he was the source of human conception. Legend has it, everyone in the village would sing and dance throughout the night when they heard Kokopelli play his flute. The next morning, every maiden in the village would be with child.
Whatever the true meaning of Kokopelli is, he has been a source of music making and dancing, and spreading joy to those around him. Even today, Kokopelli, with his hunchback and flute, is always welcome in our homes.

"If Kokopelli has lured you with his magical flute, it is time to listen to his song.
This song is one of fertility. You are being asked to use your talents to
create fertility in some area of your life. If things have been slow moving,
Kokopelli's song is saying that whatever you intend to plant at this time will
be very productive for you.

Planting seeds for the future takes effort on your part, so now is the
time to use your skill and resources to make use of the magic.
If you have a project to begin or an idea to develop, the timing couldn't be better.
Shift away from any old, limiting ideas and move forward. The time is now - the power is you !"

Here's the website -  http://www.indigenouspeople.net/kokopelli.htm

I don't know how to link it so you will have to copy and paste, listen to the music, the flute, it's so awesome!

Here are a few other pictures of my wind chime, now let's see if it works!

I have it hung in our bedroom

Well, I'm off to do some more reading...

Birthday weekend

Well, I can't believe I'm 36! I had a great weekend with family and friends and it was extra special because I had a 3 day weekend, thanks to all the dead President's. Friday night after work I subbed for Linda, it was her express class and let me tell you, I loved it. It was only a 30 minute class but boy was I sweating, it was a great and quick workout. After I got home Tom and I just hung out at the house, he's got a dandy of a cold and is not feeling the best. I think I'm sending him to the doctor tomorrow because he's breathing and coughing really hard and it sounds like it hurts. He gets this about once a year, usually around this time of the year, and it's usually bronchitis so he'll need to get it taken care of, we have lots going on the next couple of weeks.

Saturday was super busy, it all started out with Jazzercise at 8:45, I went to Shelly's class since I had yoga at 10:00, boy do I love it. After yoga we had an instructor training class, we went over different moves and just talked about different songs to make sure we are all on the same page. We've been getting a lot of new people, so we like to be on top of our game and make sure we're doing everything right. Well, an hour turned into 2 hours, so I was wiped! After class my friend Linda took me out of lunch, we went to Salsa's, yummy..Tom was with his mom and dad in Waterloo watching Micayla bowl in the district meet for bowling. Her team got 1st, however she didn't bowl her best but they're going to state! Which means next weekend we'll be in Des Moines and I just remembered I'm supposed to teach Jazzercise next Saturday at 7:30 for Linda, since she taught for me this morning since I didn't have to work, she asked if I could teach for her, crap, I guess I will have to see if I can get a sub. So after lunch, I came home and took a shower and was thinking about just relaxing for night but Chris called and asked if we want to come over for dinner, since Tom wasn't back yet I decided to just get ready and go over, the 2 margaritas I had at lunch were tasting delicious so I figured what the heck, I'll go over and have a few beers and eat. They had steak and hashbrowns, it was delicious. All the kids were there and as always, it amazes me how they do it with 6 kids. Tom ended up meeting me at Chris and Kristi's and had a couple beers himself, however he didn't eat because him and Micayla went to Buffalo Wild Wings, she was hungry before she had to go to work. Once we got home Tom gave me the most beautiful birthday card and a milky way caramel, our favorite candy bar. His mom and dad gave me a wind chime with a theme behind it, it's supposed to help me get pregnant. I'm 100% of the story but Tom said something like Infertility Gods. I will have to get the scoop from his mom. I will have to take a picture of it, it's super neat, now I just have to find a place to hang it.

Sunday was a lazy day most of the day, Tom slept in because we were going up to mom and dad's for supper to celebrate my birthday. She made ham and scalloped potatoes. Chris, Kristi and the boys came up along with Grandma. It's always nice getting together and it seems like we haven't been together in a while. It wasn't a late night since Tom had to work that night so we got home about 8:00, he headed to work at 10:00 and I went to bed.

This morning, I woke up to a very unpleasant site - my period! I'M SEVEN FRICKIN' DAYS EARLY and I'm not too happy about it, this puts a damper on everything that I had planned out. Now since I'm having my period and its still February I can't proceed with any fertility stuff, like the ultrasound I was supposed to have on day 3, well that would be Wednesday and if my period waited like it was supposed to it would have worked out perfect, but I guess nothings perfect right? So I called my doctor and told them what was going on and they do not want me to take Clomid this cycle because they have to my ultrasound with out any medication, so I'm back to square one, kind of, I will have to do the whole ovulation predictor kits once its time and so on and so on, I'm getting tired just talking about it and I'm sure you can tell I'm pissed. I'm NEVER early or this early, maybe a day or two but not 7. Oh well, enough of that crap.

Mom and I met up this afternoon to go for lunch and do a little shopping. We ate at Buffalo Wild Wings with Chris and his boys, the wings were delicious. After that we headed to Michael's then to the mall. We hit JcPenney's and Younkers oh and Victorious Secrets. I got myself a new bra with my birthday money, thanks Grandma! I got home about 5:00 and Tom and I headed out for dinner with Tom and Linda, they took me out for my birthday, we were going to go for pizza at The Greenhouse but since the kids were not home we ended up at Salsa's again, I love their Mexican food.

Well, we're waiting for Micayla and Brandon to get home, they drove to Davenport to visit her boyfriend and with the slippery weather we are having they called and said they are going about 30 MPH. It's been raining for the last 2 days and tonight it's pretty cold, below freezing anyways, which isn't good considering its still raining and sleeting and even a little snow.

It's going to be a short week, I'm probably going to take Friday off to watch Micayla bowl, hopefully we'll get some good pictures and hopefully they do good.

Traveling week

This week flew by, I thought it was going to be a long one since I was going to be gone all week for work, but it was a pretty good week. Lot's of great food, though.

It all started on Monday, I started my day with Jazzercise then to work for half the day. Heather and I left about 1:00 for Burr Ridge, IL. Trust me, there is not much there, but we managed to do just fine. Heather brought her truck to my house to park it so we could just come right here once we got home and she could head home herself, she has about a 45 minute drive from DBQ. We got to our hotel about 5:00 and checked into our rooms. We got rooms next to each other on the 6th floor. So I got into my room and got situated, about 10 minutes later the phone in my room rang, I answered it and whoever it was hung up, I just figured it was Heather for some reason and about 4 minutes later their was a knock on my door, again I just figured it was Heather, I didn't even look through the peep whole, I know I should have before opening the door but I just, well opened the door and here was the front desk lady with a box of flowers! I just shook my head and said "that husband of mine" the lady delivering my flowers had the biggest smile on my face, how exciting to deliver flowers to a hotel guest. So I brought them into my room and opened the box, there was even a small box of chocolates. So I unwrapped them and started to put them in the vase that was included and thought I better do it right and cut the stems like the instructions say, so I headed down to the front desk to ask for a scissors, then back up to my room to get my flowers all situated. I even had a little desk in my room so they really brightened up my room. My husband is the best, I never imagined he would have flowers delivered to my hotel room. I love you sweetie..

So after I got all situated Heather and I went down to the hotel restaurant for dinner. I had a tenderloin and it was very good, that was one of the few delicious meals. It was an early night, I had a few beers during dinner and headed back up to the room.

Training started at 9:00 Tuesday morning, so I got to sleep in, it was awesome. The only thing that sucked about that night sleeping was when I talked to mom, she asked if I checked for bed bugs! Come on, mom don't talk about that and NO I didn't. So in the middle of the night, actually around midnight I woke up to what I thought was a bite right on the my right side thigh, I jumped out of bed and ran into the bathroom and looked for anything resembling a bug bite and of course, there wasn't and I immediately blamed my mom! I was like "duh Rachael, just go back to bed" but sure enough, I had to turn on the lights and check the bed, again nothing. So I went back to bed and slept the rest of the night. I called Mom the next day and told her about it. LOL

So Tuesday morning we ate breakfast at the hotel, we had a big breakfast and regret eating that much because all morning in training we were yawning. A lot of this training did not pertain to us because we only have 11 associates and the other call centers had over 200 and this "blue pumpkin" program is used more for bigger call centers, so there was somethings we took away from this training but 3 days was a lot! Lunch we went to Subway and for dinner we went to an Italian restaurant - Capri. It was so good, lots of food. We were back to the hotel around 7:00, the restaurant was just a couple of blocks away from our hotel. I didn't know what to do, so I decided to rent a movie. Wow, were they expensive! I could have rented something that still in theaters but they were about $16 and I couldn't see spending that much, even though I was expensing it, I couldn't see spending that much, so I went for a lesser movie, which was still $12 but it was well worth it. I know once I tell you what movie I seen you're all going to probably laugh, but it was Eclipse - The Twilight Saga. I know I've seen it before but I think it was the only thing that would have kept me awake so I caved in and watched it. It was just as good as the last time I've seen it.

Wednesday started out with breakfast at the hotel again, however, we didn't pig out like the morning before we took it easy and training was about the same, thank God I had my laptop so I could keep up with emails and all that. The group went out to lunch at The Patio, about 10 minutes from The McGraw-Hill Companies, this building was right across the street from our hotel, which worked out wonderful, we just walked over. Lunch was great and it was nice to meet everyone, there was a group from Ohio and another from Texas. The rest of the afternoon was good and after training we met with our boss, Jessica, for dinner. She works out of the Burr Ridge building and she took us to Cooper's Hawk, it's a winery and restaurant and again it was delicious. I had a fillet Mignon and of course a glass of wine. They make their own wine there, so they say. So after supper we got back to the hotel, it was so beautiful out, so Heather and I walked around the parking lot, she's a smoker, so she was outside often and since it was so nice I decided to go out with her. Once I got back to the room I called Tom and said I want to do something but there really wasn't anything to do, there was a strip mall a couple blocks away so I decided to go over there, this was about 7:45 and I decided to call Heather and ask if she wanted to come with, she was in the same boat as I was so off we went. I really wanted to go to New York and Company so that was the first place we went, well when we walked in, I asked what time they closed and guess what, they closed at 8:00, go figured so we walked through but didn't buy anything. We ended our night at Starbucks, she got a coffee and I got a Caramel Apple Spice, yummy!

This morning, we decided to eat breakfast at Starbucks then headed back to work, we were only there until noon. We decided to take off early because the information they were going over had nothing to do with us so we decided to take off. We stopped to say goodbye to Jessica and headed out. We stopped at the Belvediere oasis, Heather has never been to one. We grabbed McDonald's and sat and watched the traffic. We got home about 4:00 and wow was it ever gorgeous out when we got home, we left Chicago and it was super windy but I think it's going to change Sunday, we're expecting snow again, great!

So all week while I was in Burr Ridge, I had to take ovulation tests, my doctor wants me to do this since I did not take Clomid this cycle, but unfortunately, I didn't have a positive test :( but I guess that's the reason I'm on Clomid, to help me ovulate. So tomorrow I have to call the doc and tell him. Now we'll just have to wait until next month and I found out the other day that I have to do that ultrasound down in the quad cities so we'll have to figure out when that will be. Oh and the semen analysis will have to be done there too. This is going to be a long process especially with all the driving, but it will be all worth it in the long run.

So now I'm getting caught up on General Hospital and wow, did I miss a lot!

Valentine's weekend

Friday night we started out our weekend with a wonderful steak dinner, baked potatoes, fresh broccoli and some Bogle wine, Phantom-our last bottle. The steads were to die for, we broiled them because our grill is still buried in snow but they were still pretty darn good.

Saturday started with Jazzercise, a special Valentine's day class, we had 56 people in class, it was heart pumping. There were 7 instructors teaching so we each did two songs. After Jazzercise was Yoga and again, another great class. I tried getting Tom to come to Jazzercise since there is always a few husbands/boyfriends there but he didn't want any part in it, oh well, maybe next year. After Jazzercise and Yoga, I went home to shower and get ready for massages. Tom and I enjoyed a couple massage at Body and Soul, this has been a yearly tradition, so instead of buying each other birthday gifts and Valentine gifts we decide to do massages for ourselves and let me tell you, it's so worth it. We always get treated wonderful at Body and Soul, I know it's a part of the package we pay for, but we walk in and they greet us and ask right away if we would like some water or tea. We usually have Chai Tea, however that wasn't offered to us until after our massages but we didn't have to wait long, our masseuse's were all ready for us. My masseuse was a girl whom I played basketball with and she did wonderful. Tom said his was wonderful to. After our massages we enjoyed a glass of champagne and a few chocolates, Dove milk chocolates to be exact. Tom also enjoyed a cup of wonderful tea. We left there super relaxed and felt amazing!

After our massages we had about an hour to spare until our dinner reservations so we went and washed my car and filled it up with gas since I will be driving to Burr Ridge Monday. So that took us to about 4:30 and our reservations were at 5:00 at Vinny Vanucchi's, we decided to go in since we found a pretty good spot to park and sure enough, they got us right in. Tom and I shared a bottle of Reisling, one of my favorites and had stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer, they were delicious, stuffed with crabmeat. For dinner I ordered the Seafood Millennium and Tom had a stuffed tenderloin or something like that, I'm sure the name of it, but everything was amazing. My plate had at least 4 servings, so we had lots of leftovers. Tom will eat it up while I'm gone, however I might have some for dinner tonight.

So after dinner, we met up with my cousin Erica and Gary, she had called me Thursday night asked if we wanted to go out for dinner but since we already had plans we thought maybe we could meet up after. They went to the Starr restuarant and we met up at The Diamond Jo. We got there much earlier then Erica and Gary since our reservation were an hour earlier so enjoyed a few drinks thanks to some old co-workers they hooked us up with some free drinks. So while waiting, of course, we had to do a little gambling. Well anyone who knows me, I usually just watch or sit and talk to people, but Tom wasn't winning much so I decided to take $20 and put it in a slot machine, well sure enough, it was me who was hot tonight! I shouldn't start bragging but we did come out I think about $10 ahead the whole night. It was a lot of fun, the only thing that sucked was we left there smelling like an ash tray. Right when walked into the doors we remembered that you can smoke inside the casino's, wow could you smell it. Erica said the same thing and wished she'd left her coat in the car or coat check. Well, we were there for about an hour once Erica and Gary came then we decided to go have a drink somewhere else, well we decided to stay close to the area and decided to go to Lot One, we had a few drinks and found a table to sit and talk at. Wow, did we feel old though, it was a pretty young crowd but we didn't mind, we just enjoyed each others company. We ended up home by midnight or so.

Brandon had 3 of his buddies spend the night and here's what we woke up to..

It's nice to have a spare bed just in case. I got up about 9:00 and heard the boys out in the kitchen, well here they were making breakfast for everyone, including Tom and I! They had the waffle maker out and everything, they even made sausage's. It was very sweet of them. It was so funny, you can only do one waffle at a time so they had a stack of waffles and by the time we went to eat them they were kind of cold but it was all worth it. Here's a few pictures of them in the kitchen.

The waffle maker - the first one is always tricky, they kind of poured too much batter. LOL

And the boys enjoying their breakfast.

And for the most part they cleaned up as well. I guess last night they made pancakes while we were gone, they even had to ride their bike up to the store to get milk, one of the boys wanted milk bad and we were out. Brandon said he even loaded the dishwasher and started it, they must have had a lot of dishes! The 4 boys said when they get older and out of highschool, they are going to live together and cook all the time. LOL

So tomorrow I leave for Burr Ridge and I haven't started packing yet, so I better get going. Tom's taking a nap, Micayla just got home a little bit ago. It's been a lazy day for me. The kids keeps asking what we're going to have for supper and I have no idea, I was thinking about leftovers but I don't think that's going to fly with the kids. Tomorrow Micayla's boyfriend is coming to meet us, but I wont be here so Tom will have to fill me in. They are supposed to go out for pizza and I was thinking of ordering pizza tonight. I've been hungry for Happy Joe's so we'll see!

Infertility specialist

Today was the big day where Tom and I found out more information about Infertility and what our next option is going to be. It was a very informative session and I'm glad Tom was there with me. Even though he was super tired, I was glad he was there.

I left work at 11:00 to go home and pick up Tom, he got about 3 hours of sleep and slept for a little while in the car on the way down to Davenport. We got  there with 20 minutes to spare but we decided to go in early anyway. We seemed to be the only ones in the place but that was OK so they could give us their full attention. The first thing the secretary said to us was we tried calling you yesterday to talk to you about your insurance. I said "well, you didn't leave a message" she like "no I didn't leave a message". Instantly Tom was pissed, thinking we were not going to proceed with this consultation. So the doctor asked if I knew about my insurance and that I have to be employeed for one year before they will cover any infertility treatments. Well I told them I knew about the insurance but when I talked to the nurse who set up my appointment, they said I could go to the consultation since there was nothing they were going to do except talk to me about my next step. So we'll see what happens, but if my insurance doesn't cover it we'll get a bill for about $250, oh well, it's all worth it but I have a feeling they will pay for it. My year with McGraw-Hill will be March 1st, that's why I made the appt. in February so come March we can proceed.

So we met with the nurse, she was kind of ditzy but she kept it interesting. She discussed and asked questions about our history and all the test we've already done and thank God we have most of the testing all done! Doctor Figge came in and discussed what we should do next and since I have been on Clomid for a while he thinks it's best to go ahead with IVF - invitro fertilization, but we are going to try one more IUI! But first Tom has to have another semen analysis since he's only had one and it's been about a year ago. They are hoping for something to be a little higher than the last but we'll see. I think the shape of the sperm was not the best but it was OK. I don't know, but it's crazy talking about sperm. LOL

So since I just got over my last cycle and since I'm going to be traveling next week and it's supposed to be my time of ovulation, go figure, so I didn't take any Clomid this cycle and it's probably a good thing because the doctor wants me to still take an ovulation test and if it's positive to call and 7 days after a positive test to go give blood so they can test my HSG. I guess this determines if I've truly ovulated, so let's hope I do. The only thing that sucks is I will have to do this during my training but it only takes a couple of minutes, should be interesting. This is pretty serious because they were saying if the day I ovulate and the 7 days after, if I was still in Chicago that I could go to a lab there to give blood to test my HSG levels, crazy..I said I will be back in DBQ when that happens, thank God. How would I explain that one? So, so far it's working out good and since I'm going to be gone all week, that means abstinence for Tom and I so when I get home, I won't get home until late Thursday night, so Friday we will do Tom's sperm analysis. Works out great! LOL

So my next cycle, they want me to take another dose of Clomid and to do the same process as this month. Plus they want me on day 3 to do an ultrasound and check something in or around my fallopian tubes. I just read one of my handouts, they look at my uterus and ovaries and then once I have a positive OV test we will do one more IUI. They wanted me to do this in Davenport, but thank God we talked them into letting us do it here in DBQ, for one thing its about $100 cheaper to do it in DBQ plus we don't have to drive an hour. So they agreed that would be fine, so tomorrow I have lots of calling to do to set all this up. The biggest things are the blood work on certain days and the semen analysis. I'm not 100% sure where we have to go for that or where we have to take it but I'll find out.

The next step after that, hopefully the IUI will work, but if not, I will have to meet with the IVF team that comes to Davenport every Wednesday and that will be in Davenport and all future procedures will be in Davenport other then the egg retrieval, if needed, will be in Iowa City. So please keep your fingers crossed!

We left the doctor's office very convinced that IT will happen!

We made use of our time in Davenport and hit Red Lobster, oh man, we love that place. I had shrimp scampi, lobster tails and grilled shrimp. Tom had the same other then the shrimp scampi, he had scallops. It was so good. We headed home after dinner and go home about 5:15.

It was a good day and we're glad to be home, Tom's taking a nap before he has to go into work tonight and I'm going to relax on the couch.

Super Bowl Sunday

I was just asking Tom "why can't the Super Bowl be on Saturday?" That would make so much more sense but I guess that's why the biggest "sick day" is the day after Super Bowl. I know if the Bears were in it, Tom would have been one of those "sick" people, but since the Bear's are not in it, he slept all day just to watch the game tonight. Well, it wasn't hard to sleep all day since we were out pretty late last night. I got up at noon and I can't remember the last time I slept that long.

It all started early Saturday morning. I went to Jazzercise at 8:45 to take in a class. I dropped Tom off at his Grandparents house to do their taxes. After Jazzercise I continued with Yoga, core fusion. Its such a great class, my side obliques are feeling it today. After Yoga I picked up Tom and we headed home. I took a shower and got ready for the rest of the day. At 1:00 we got our taxes done, don't want to talk about that because it's not good news, anyway we got our taxes done then headed to pick up the party platter from Big Apple Bagel that Linda ordered for her sister Shari's 50th birthday party. We had a couple hours to spare so we went for lunch to The Mining Company we were hoping to waste about an hour but they were right on top of things, we were in and out in 35 minutes or so, so we headed to Grandma's for a visit. It's been a while since we've been there and it was a nice visit. She was happy to see us! We enjoyed a beer with her and then headed out to Jumpers. Jenny and Jason Weidemann had a going away party for Jason, he's being deployed to Iraq in 2 weeks so they had a little party for him. If we would have known there was going to be food there we would not have ate at The Mining Company, we should have known, but oh well. She had turkey and dressing sandwiches and lots of snacky foods. We had a few beers with Jason to wish him well and to thank him for serving our country. It's amazing what they do protect us. He will be missed, especially when we're out on the river with Chris and Kristi, they go out on the river a lot with them. I guess we'll have to wait until next year but by then I doubt they will even have their boat, but you never know. So after Jumpers, we were there for about 2 hours, I took Tom down to Hammerheads for his aunt's surprise birthday party. I had to drop him off because I was meeting the Jazzercise girls for dinner at The Bank for a few birthday celebrations, me and 2 others have birthday's in February so we usually get together and as always its nice to visit with everyone. The girls got me a water bottle and a warm up jacket. After dinner everyone was going back to Julie's house to play Wii dance, I on the other hand went back to Hammerheads. I guess Shari was pretty surprised when they got to Hammerhead's, I wasn't here for the surprise but I had fun! It was the first time I drank in 2 weeks and I really can't remember the last time we drank that much. There was a lot of people down there, mom and dad even stopped on their way home from dinner, they ate at the Bar X and said it was delicious. Johnny Lesch and his wife Angie were there also and well, needless to say we had plenty to drink and was ready to come home, however we were waiting for Micayla to get off work so she could pick us up, so instead of waiting at Hammerheads, we went to John and Angie's house for little while. We had a beer or two, not that we needed any but we did anyways. Micayla came to pick us up around 1:30 and of course we were hungry so we had her stop at McDonald's, mmm...it was so good however not a very good idea. So we made it home and passed out!

Today has been a pretty lazy day, like I said I didn't get out of bed until noon and I just wasn't real perky and Tom he slept until 5:00 tonight, so he could watch the game before work. Micayla took me to get my car this afternoon, her mom was taking them bowling so it worked out good.

I'm ready to watch the half time show, Black Eye Peas, are going to be on in a couple minutes. Tom's in the shower the kids just left to go to Wal-mart, not sure why but her and Brandon wanted to go out. It's going to be an early night tonight, Jazzercise in the morning. I have my appointment in Davenport on Thursday. I will let you know how it goes, hopefully they will have some good advice. The only thing that stinks is we're going to have to wait until my next cycle because I will be traveling next week and well, next week will be my time if you know what I mean, so we'll just have to wait... again!

The commercials during the Super bowl have been OK, my favorite now are the Dorito commercials.

Snow day

Today was a snow day for McGraw-Hill employees along with Brandon and Micayla. Yesterday while working it started snowing and we were expected to get a lot. The snow started around 1:30 and didn't stop until sometime this morning. Work let us out at 3:00 and said the building will be closed tomorrow. And the best part is, we get paid for it! Another reason I love my job so much, they look out for us, they don't want to put us in danger.

So last night was dance night, Micayla bought Dance Central for Xbox 360 - Kinect and boy did we bust a move. It was so much fun. We've been wanting to get it and Micayla broke down and bought it. I will have to give her some money for it, or a tank of gas will do, she seems to always need that. LOL We couldn't get Tom to participate and Brandon did maybe one song but it was mostly Micayla and I. I think Tom took some pictures and I thought he loaded them on to the computer but I don't see them. Shoot, I guess I will have to blog again and post some pictures of the all the snow we got.

Last night we were out twice shoveling and when we woke up this morning, holy cow, it was crazy. Tom did go to work last night and he said only 2 out of 4 people showed up and only one person relieved him this morning, he's hoping it's not too busy tonight but at least if he is the night will go by faster.

Well the kids and I spent the day inside, we didn't do too much, Micayla is fighting a cold so she laid in bed most of the day until she went to shovel out her car and help Tom with the plow since Brandon is too light for it, he couldn't get any snow pushed and ended up getting the tractor stuck but Tom and Micayla got it! I shoveled the steps and my backs feeling it now. But after Jazzercise tonight it felt much better. Yeah I had to teach tonight for Judy at 5:45pm, we had 7 die hards that came to Jazzercise. Last night's classes were canceled. I subbed for Judy because she's teaching my Thursday next week because Tom and I have our appointment in Davenport for our next step in the baby making process.

Sad new, tonight after Jazzercise and Volleyball, I came home and went to the bathroom and guess what I saw, that's right, I got my period, I'm so bummed, but oh well, next time. Now we'll have to see what our next option is and hopefully we'll get some help in Davenport.
