Week long activities

Wow, what a busy couple of days! I don't know where to begin..

First of all, on Sunday we drove to Chicago to pick up my brother, sister-in-law and my niece. We had a great trip and got to catch up with each other on the way home! I am so excited they are here to celebrate Christmas with us.

On Monday, I had to work, but after work, we we all met up at mom and dads for Marco's pizza. This is on of Stephanie's favorite pizza and everyone else's as well. During that time, we, Kristi, myself, Tom and Luke were all drinking Bud Select and it just so happens that we drank 2 cases. Holy crap! Needless to say I was "sick" the next day so I took a sick day for work.

Tuesday, the girls, Me, Steph, Kristi and Micayla all went to Galena for a little shopping and lunch at Vinny's! Yummy.. then that night we, everyone, had family pics taken. It went really smooth, there were 17 of us! Yeah, our family is definitely growing and we hope it keeps growing in the year to come. With the family picture, we did this for mom and dads Christmas present.

So last night, Wednesday, was our Christmas with everyone here in Iowa! I want to put a picture up of what we did with the family picture, but I forgot my camera so maybe on my next blog! But our Christmas was awesome. We go so many nice things that I can't even begin to write it all down! The kids made out awesome as well and love all the things they got. Thanks everyone!

Tonight, New Year's Eve, we are heading over to Chris and Kristi for Prime Rib! It's going to be a great night. We are going to play our new game Loaded Questions (Adult version) should be fun.. It's still in it's plastic so no one can look at the questions. This should be fun night and we are all planning on spending the night at Chris and Kristi's!

The party's over

Well, Christmas Eve is over and now on to the next! We had a great day. It was so nice to be able to host Christmas in our new house. The best thing about the whole thing is that we did not have to go anywhere. we were HOME!

Mom and dad came to help celebrate the "Barrett" Christmas! That's Tom's mom side of the family. Well, Dad and Big Tom had lots of fun! The pour LTD bottled didn't enjoy it too much as most of it was gone thanks to them. But they had fun! We all had fun. We played a new game called "What's yours like?" and just hung out with family.

The snow held off and it looks like we are not going to get as much as they were calling for. But we got the rain! I think it rained for 2 days straight. Right now I'm sitting up at mom and dad's and it now snowing, a very pretty snow. I don't think it suppose to amount to much, but you never know.

Grandma, Nikki, Andy and the family are all coming up for a little Christmas celebration. But the big celebration come on Wednesday. We can't wait to see the gang from California! Tomorrow we are heading to Chicago to pick them up! Right now, the weather looks to be ok, but we are still crossing our fingers.

Enjoy the pics!

Foods all ready

The food is all ready for Xmas eve. We are hosting Christmas eve this year. Since we now have the room, its going to be excited! I have never hosted a Holiday before.

Tom and I whipped up our 3 recipes.. 1) Pickle rolls 2) Louisiana Seafood dip and 3) Asiago bread, or something like that. We will put that on baguettes. We have not made them before, but they sure looked good. So we will let you know.

My knee is really bothering me tonight. It seems like when I try and favor my knee, my left foot starts to get sore. I swear, I feel like I'm 80 years old. Tom says he's going to get me a walker for Christmas. I swear, I feel like I need it. It's very frustrating and it really pisses me off, to say the least and I don't know what to do with it. I wear a knee brace during Jazzercise and that seems to help, so maybe I should be wearing one all the time. I don't know!

Well, it's has started to snow! We are suppose to get up to 3 inches by tomorrow afternoon and then the next couple of days we are suppose to be getting some as well. At least we know Leah will get a chance to play in the snow. I can't wait to see her reaction to the snow. I don't know if she has been in this kind of weather before??

Well, I'm icing my knee and it's now numb and the dog needs to be let out. AGAIN! so see you later.

Snow, snow stay away!

Ok, so today is Monday, yes I'm working.. But my phone has only rung 4 times since 7:30 this morning. No, I'm not complaining!

I just heard we are expecting snow for the next several days. I think the next 4 to 5 days to be exact! I just hope all is gone and out of Chicago by the 27th of December. Tom and I are picking up Luke, Steph and Leah and we are not going to miss that! I can't remember the last time it snowed on Christmas.

I am listening to one of my favorite Xmas songs. "Christmas Shoes" it brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it. It's such a pretty song.

So, this weekend, well we didn't do to much. We went to my father-in-laws sister house yesterday afternoon for a little get together. It was nice. It was snowing a little and live about an hour from Dubuque, but the roads were fine. Saturday, Tom and I went and did all our grocery shopping. We had about a $300 bill. Wow! But now the dog will be fed for quite a while as well.

I thought Jazzercise this morning and I brought some home made mini muffins for my Jazzercisers. We also had hot apple cider. It was a fun class. I learned about 5 new songs between Saturday and Sunday, so I had lots of energy. It great teaching new songs.

Just 3 days before Christmas! Have a safe and happy new year!

Xmas baking

I decided to blog while I am waiting for the mini muffins to come out of the oven. I am making a few snacks for my Jazzercisers for tomorrow and Monday. I think they deserve it. I also made up a few candy dishes. We will draw names and someone will be a lucky winner. I have to teach tomorrow morning at 8:45am and on Monday at 5:45am.

Last night, Tom and I went to Lacoma, golf course in East Dubuque, for all you can eat fish. They have the best fried fish! It's delicious. Today we cleaned and then ran a few errands. We ended up going to Walmart and holy cow, it was so crazy. But we knew what we were getting into.

Theirs a football game on tonight, so Tom will be watching that, so I might try and learn a new Jazzercise routine for tomorrow. One more week then I get to go pick up my brother and his family. We can't wait.

Ta ta for now!

One week until Christmas

Wow, can you believe it, one week before Christmas. How time flies, especially now since we are older.

Last night, I went with my mother-in-law to her cousins holiday party. We had a sit down meal with wine or beer and the whole works. It was delicious! We had beef and chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and corn. Her cousin decorates her 2 car garage. It was so pretty. I guess that's the benefit of having a heated garage. We also had our annual holiday food day at work, so needless to say, I was STUFFED! But of course, here I am Friday morning starving! I just don't get it :)

Tonight, I think Tom and I are going to go out with my older brother, Chris, and his fiance Kristi for a few drinks. Chris may have an all-nighter, but if he does, we just might take Kristi out for a few drinks to celebrate her GPA. She did awesome this semester! I'm so happy for her. She's almost done.

This weekend we don't have much planned, but I will keep you posted as to what goes on. I will try and get a few pictures up. I can't wait to see everyone for Christmas.

Weekend activities

Ok, so here I am. I actually forgot all about the blogging thing this weekend. I was even looking for things to do since my Husband was deer hunting this weekend. I guess I would have had too much to talk about since I really didn't do much.

Friday night, I was all alone as the kids were somewhere other than here. Brandon stayed at his mom's house and Micayla was at her friends house. So Friday night, I went to target to do a little shopping. I needed a new toilet seat for the toilet seat that broke in our bathroom. I also found a few new decorations for our house. We bought new stockings and I had to find holders for them. I found them at Target and I think I found a great buy. Tom is taking pictures right now so I will have it posted soon.

Saturday we had a cookie exchange at Tom's moms house. We, I should say Tom, made a couple dozen cookies and we had to exchange something like 8 cookies a piece. There were about 8 of us. So needless to say, we have lots of cookies. After the cookie exchange, Brandon and I hung for for the rest of the night. We went to a friends Christmas open house and then Brandon and I went through "Reflections in the Park" Christmas lights. They were pretty good. Since it snowed a couple days before, it made it really pretty.

Sunday, I had to teach Jazzercise at 8:45 and after that, mom and I did some Christmas shopping. We are pretty well done with our shopping. I still can't believe its less than 2 weeks away! Although I'm super excited I get to see my little neice, Leah Brooke, and Luke and Steph. We should have a good time.

Tom got home, but he did not get a deer AGAIN this year. We are completely out of deer :(

So now today is Monday and it wasn't the best day, but I got through it. I taught Jazzercise this morning at 5:45 am and then headed to work. There are going to be "pink" slips coming Friday, but everyone is in the dark, we have no idea when we are getting ours, but I was in a bad mood all day thinking about it. I think I am most nervous about finding a new job and getting insurance. I just have to take it one day at a time and everything will work out!

I bet you bored reading this Steph.. See I told you!

Day 2 of blogging

Day 2 of this blogging thing. Tom and I made it into work this morning at 7:30am! Since Tom has the 4 wheel drive, we really don't have an exc!use. Although we did think about it for a split second this morning laying in our warm bed!

After we got to work and all the customer found out we were open, it was CRAZY! I don't think the phones stopped ringing all day. The day went fast!

The kids stayed home from school today and had a few friends over. They did get all their work done, rooms cleaned, dishes done and some laundry. They also got all the snow shoveled. And let me tell you, there was lots of it! Thanks kiddos.

I just found out that I do not have to teach Jazzercise tomorrow morning at 5:45am. It is suppose to get super cold tonight and they are talking about drifting snow and tonight, when Micayla's friend left well, she got stuck just up out street. We had to help her out. Tom had to pull her vehicle with his truck. This is her first time driving in this crap and I don't think she knew how to handle the snow and ice. We had to give her a little talk about not stomping on the breaks. She did a total 180 and we still can't really figure out how she did it, but oh well, no one was hurt.

Now, I think I'm going to continue reading my book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility". It's super interesting. I don't think I will talk about it. LOL

Good night.

This is looking out our patio door. You can see our fire pit and our Weber grill. I think we should have covered that. Oh well.

Brandon and Patches, our dog, by the Christmas tree. I don't know how to rotate the picture!
Our first snow fall of the year. This is the front of our house, you can kind of see the lights. You can definitely see the snow.

This is for you Steph

Ok, I really have no idea what I am suppose to be writing about, but here goes! Like I said I don't have much to say.

Today and now, we are in the middle of a HUGE snowstorm. They say its the largest in a decade, if that makes sense. We are expecting about 14 inches of snow. Yuck! But since its the first snow of the season, it's kind of pretty. Now that the Christmas stuff is all out, it's actually really pretty. I will take some pics and try to post them to this. My sister-in-law said its super easy, so we will see.

The kids, my step kids, Micayla and Brandon, got out of school 2 hours early today because of the snow. They are hoping for no school tomorrow. Micayla has a friend over so I'm sure it's going to be canceled. Tom and Brandon are playing Playstation 2 right now, Madden, and I'm sitting here typing up a new blog. Oh and I'm in the hangover chair - thanks to Grandma, I now have the hangover chair. I bet you are wondering why we call it that. Well, whenever we were hungover and we were at Grandma's house, we would always sit in this chair. It's actually perfect to sit here and type on the laptop (until the battery runs out of course) but this chair vibrates and heats. It's awesome. Again, I will take pics once I figure out how to post pics on this blog site.

Ok, so now I'm going to go and take some pics. So I will be back soon!
